Background: The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization with headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana. Its goal is to further socio-economic cooperation and integration as well as political and security cooperation among 15 southern African states. It complements the role of the African Union. GIZ is supporting SADC in the areas of conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources, regional economic integration and transborder water resource management. Within this context, eusg was asked to conduct training workshops with the aim of capacity building.
Objectives and Results: Two intensive training workshops for SADC employees were carried out by eusg to build up capacities in using the full range and the latest release of EIDOS software tools. The capacity building in favor of the SADC region will serve the GIZ programs for Promotion of Economic Integration and Trade (ProSPECT), Strengthening Decision and Management Structures in SADC-Institutions (ProGRESS) and for the support of peace, security and governance.
